Overview of Surgeries & In-Office Procedures

We offer a range of surgeries and in-office procedures to address various gynecological concerns and conditions.

These may include minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy or hysteroscopy for diagnosing and treating conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, or abnormal uterine bleeding.

Additionally, we provide in-office procedures such as colposcopy for cervical evaluations, LEEP procedures, and Endosee procedures.

Our experienced healthcare team is committed to providing safe, effective, and personalized care to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique to visualize internal organs. By using high-frequency sound waves, ultrasound creates real-time images of the pelvic organs, including the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.

It is used routinely for both Gynecologic and Obstetric care. It is used in gynecologic care to image the uterus and ovaries when patients present with issues such as pelvic pain, irregular menstrual bleeding, suspected ovarian cysts, painful menstruation, or post-menopausal bleeding.  It can be used in obstetric care to confirm pregnancy and to monitor fetal development during pregnancy.

It’s a safe and widely used tool that provides valuable information for making medical decisions and ensuring good health.

Colposcopy

Colposcopy is a procedure offered at Four Corners OB/GYN to closely examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva for signs of abnormal cells. During a colposcopy, a special instrument called a colposcope is used to magnify the tissues, allowing the healthcare provider to identify any areas of concern.

This procedure is typically recommended after an abnormal Pap smear result or to further evaluate symptoms such as genital warts or vulvar abnormalities.

Colposcopy is a safe and relatively quick procedure that can help detect early signs of cervical cancer or other gynecological conditions, allowing for timely intervention and treatment.

LEEP Procedure

The LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) is a treatment offered at Four Corners OB/GYN to remove abnormal cervical cells that are detected during a colposcopy.

During the procedure, a thin wire loop heated by an electrical current is used to remove the abnormal tissue from the cervix.

LEEP is typically performed as an outpatient procedure and is an effective way to treat precancerous cervical changes and prevent the development of cervical cancer. It’s a safe and relatively quick procedure with minimal discomfort, and patients can usually resume normal activities shortly afterward.

Endosee Procedure

The Endosee procedure is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure offered at Four Corners OB/GYN to evaluate the uterine cavity and the lining of the uterus (endometrium).

During the procedure, a small, flexible camera called an Endosee hysteroscope is inserted through the cervix into the uterus, allowing the healthcare provider to visualize the uterine lining and identify any abnormalities.

The Endosee procedure is commonly used to diagnose conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding, polyps, fibroids, or adhesions. It offers a quick and convenient alternative to traditional hysteroscopy, with minimal discomfort and no need for sedation.

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used for diagnosing and treating various gynecological conditions. During a hysteroscopy, a thin, flexible tube with a camera attached (hysteroscope) is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus, allowing the healthcare provider to examine the uterine cavity for abnormalities such as polyps, fibroids, or adhesions.

This procedure can also be used to perform certain treatments, such as removing polyps or fibroids, or performing endometrial ablation for heavy menstrual bleeding. Hysteroscopy is typically performed as an outpatient procedure with minimal discomfort and a quick recovery time, offering patients a safe and effective option for addressing uterine issues.

Endometrial Ablation

Endometrial ablation is a minimally invasive procedure offered at Four Corners OB/GYN to treat heavy menstrual bleeding in women who do not plan to become pregnant in the future.

During this procedure, the uterine lining (endometrium) is destroyed or removed, thus reducing or stopping menstrual flow.

This procedure can be done as an outpatient procedure and performed in the office or with anesthesia in the hospital setting. Your provider will discuss which location is the best choice for you.

It offers a safe and effective alternative to hysterectomy for women seeking relief from heavy periods, allowing them to resume their normal activities without much disruption.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure offered at Four Corners OB/GYN for diagnosing and treating various gynecological conditions.

During laparoscopy, a thin, flexible tube with a camera attached (laparoscope) is inserted through small incisions in the abdomen, allowing the healthcare provider to visualize the pelvic organs and surrounding structures. This procedure can be used to diagnose conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, or pelvic adhesions, and can also be used to perform certain treatments such as removing cysts or scar tissue.

Laparoscopy offers patients shorter recovery times, less pain, and smaller scars compared to traditional open surgery, making it a preferred option for many gynecological procedures.

Sterilization

Sterilization is a permanent form of birth control offered at Four Corners OB/GYN that involves surgical procedures.

Tubal ligation, in women, is a procedure to block or remove the fallopian tubes in women. This prevents the sperm from reaching the egg.

Vasectomy, in men, involves cutting or blocking the vas deferens to prevent the release of sperm during ejaculation.

Four Corners OBGYN offers permanent birth control for women, and can refer men to a urologist if they desire a vasectomy.

Sterilization procedures are highly effective and considered permanent, making them suitable for individuals who are certain they do not want to have children in the future.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus. This procedure may be recommended to treat various gynecological conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, or certain types of cancer.

Depending on the specific condition and patient’s needs, different types of hysterectomies may be performed, including vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy, or robotic hysterectomy. The specific procedure recommended by your provider will be based on your surgical indication and personal health history.

We work closely with patients to talk about their options, address any concerns, and provide personalized care before, during, and after the procedure to ensure best outcomes and recovery.
